Advantages of Using a PBL Website:

- Going paperless-cuts down on assignment copies, handouts, note catchers, daily checkpoint exit slips
- Student accountability to the team (absences are no longer an excuse-it’s all online)
- Allows for kids to work at different speeds-all at their fingertips
- Gives teacher opportunity to screen initial research students will see-set foundation
- Sets a good example for kids to see what “reliable sources” look like
- Provides a one-stop shop for resources - no excuses about what they should be doing
How do I create? Generate?
Assignments:
The PBL, Rubric etc.-
Type directly into "text box"
Type up on Word and upload as "document"
Upload as a "file"
Daily Notecatchers-
*Open up your GOOGLE drive
*Select "create" in the top left hand corner
*Pick "form"
*Give this form a title and choose a design
*Make sure NONE of the boxes are checked in the top section of the form (allows everyone to view it)
*Create and edit the form for whatever types of elements you would like for your note catcher
(check boxes, fill in the blanks etc.)
*When you are finished creating, put a check mark in the first two boxes under the
heading "confirmation page" (at the bottom of the form)
*Click on "send form"
*Click on "embed" button and copy the html tagline
*Go to Weebly site you are building, find the page you want it to be on...
(usually best as a separate standard page).
*Find the "embed" button on the left hand column, click and drag where you want it, paste the html in the box.
*An excel spreadsheet of "responses" will automatically be created in your "GOOGLE" drive
(where you created the form) with the same name as the form you made, you can repeat
the "embed" process for this and put it on a separate page of your website for
kids to compare their research.
Quick Date Collection-Surveys
*Find "survey" in the left hand Weebly column and create a form.
Embed Calendars
In Google Calendars:
*On the far left side of the screen, click the drop down menu next to "my calendars"
*Create a new calendar, name it what you like
*Click the drop down menu for THAT calendar you want to embed, click on "share this calendar"
*Next screen, top left corner, click on the blue "calendar details"
*Next screen, midway down, find "embed this calendar"-to the right of that, you will see a window of html-highlight and copy it
*Go back to Weebly, find the "embed" button in the left hand column-click and drag the box where you want the calendar-paste and the calendar will appear
*This calendar will be live so as you add things to the google calendar it automatically updates on the weebly.
Word/PDF/Publisher:
*Upload the file to the page
